The first edition of the Drifts Festival took place at Museum of Impossible Forms and Wenla Bar in the Kontula region of Helsinki. For ten days, Drifts explored the theme “Unmapping Futures” to map out a plurality of futures. Unmapping Futures opened up social spheres with 33 local and international practitioners to dialogue on current socio-political and ecological challenges and actionable futures through film screenings, performances, lectures, workshops, and exhibitions. In addition, we organized a pop-up gallery: P2P(Peer to Peer), to introduce various literature and books created by emerging artists, designers, and independent publishers. Drifts contributed to building a temporary post-national community with diverse local/international participants through the festival’s public events and exhibitions in Kontula.
