Genesis was an exhibition and lecture performance by Minna Henriksson & Ahmed Al-Nawas, centering on a handwoven rug. Drifts’s artistic director Soko Hwang hosted and co-curated the exhibition in collaboration with curator Enna Bae from Locus Solus.
The project uncovered the hidden histories of labor and solidarity within Finland’s century-old paper industry. By tracing the stories of blacklisted workers and the rise of industrial monuments, the artwork interrogated the myth of creation–asking for whom these industries and cultural hegemonies were truly built. The exhibition bridged Finnish industrial history with a contemporary global audience in Seoul.
