What might declining oxygen levels bring about at the edge of the Baltic Sea? Informed by symbiosis and the plasticity of aquatic life, the film meditates on the coping mechanisms of submerged organisms as they respond to shifting environmental conditions.
Bio
Maria Ångerman is known for her immersive works exploring the human relationship with the natural world, with a focus on liminality. Central to her practice is the intention to coexist and collaborate with other species, while addressing themes of loss, adaptation, and transformation. She earned a master’s degree from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2014. Her films have been screened at international film and media art festivals, galleries and museums.
