DRIFTS

Code of Conduct

Drifts’ Code of Conduct applies to everyone involved in its activities, including those participating in festivals, symposia, exhibitions, public programmes, collaborations, and partnerships, as well as artists, audiences, volunteers, and the production team. It creates conditions where people with different backgrounds, experiences, and positions can engage in cultural work and public programming in equitable and respectful ways, attending to how access, responsibility, and participation are organised through curatorial, organisational, and collaborative practices.

Drifts works to foster safe and respectful environments where people can engage in cultural activities without harassment, discrimination, aggression, sexism, or disrespectful behaviour, regardless of gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, or religion.

It seeks to address structural inequalities in the arts and culture sector through its curatorial approaches, working methods, and modes of collaboration. Care, awareness of power dynamics, and accountability are approached as essential aspects of collaborative practice.

We acknowledge that conflicts, miscommunications or mistakes may occur within cultural and collaborative contexts without harmful intent. When concerns arise, they are addressed through communication, reflection, and responsibility.

If you experience or witness behaviour that goes against this code, you can contact the Drifts care & support coordinators. Contact can be made directly via email (support@drifts.art) or anonymously through online contact form. Each situation is handled individually and confidentially, with the aim of responding to concerns respectfully, carefully, and responsibly.

The Code of Conduct is an evolving practice, continuously refined through experience, collaboration, and ongoing engagement with artists, audiences, cultural workers and partners. We are committed to ongoing reflection and learning. Input from artists, collaborators, and audiences is welcomed as part of sustaining a safer and more inclusive cultural environment.
