DRIFTS

Vision

Drifts works toward a future where cultural plurality thrives locally and globally through alternative imagination, collective learning, critical dialogue, and social change. The platform contributes to a transcultural society in which diverse cultural practices and contemporary art cultivate new artistic languages and open cultural discourse. Drifts fosters social environments where experimental art practices continuously open cultural scenes, institutional structures, and ways of producing, sharing, and experiencing art. It aspires to become a long-term platform within Helsinki’s cultural landscape while contributing to the international visibility of Finnish contemporary art.

Mission

Drifts creates temporary social spheres where people from diverse backgrounds gather to share knowledge and engage with contemporary questions through multidisciplinary art. It produces festivals, symposia, exhibitions, events, and artistic projects through artistic research and event productions. Its' activities are organised through site-specific and experimental approaches that situate artistic work within urban environments and public space. Drifts collaborates with artists, curators, organisations, and communities through showcases, co-productions, institutional partnerships, and translocal exchange. It maintains a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that all activities remain free and open to the public.
